A dynamic IP is what most people have who connect to the Internet. A dialup Internet user for example gets a new IP every time they connect. An IP address is a group of 4 numbers, seperated by periods like so; 198.69.255.5 Because it changes all the time, you can't do things that require other computers on the Internet to be able to always find you. Static IP addresses never change, meaning your computer or home network will always have the same address online and other computers on the web will know how to find it at all times. This is used if you would like to host a web or email server, host a webcam, a weather station or have remote access to your computers while you are away.
